Who’s the search engines’ favourite search engine?

In this age of search engine wars and search engine optimisation it’s great to know that search engines prefer over companies search engines over their own.

If we search Google for “search engine” they very kindly list Altavista as number 1, Dogpile as number 2 and Yahoo as number 3 in their search results.

Boy 15 Spends $2m on Hitman, Vice and Fast Cars

A $34k Vegas rampage, hiring of a hitman ($30k), an Aston Martin ($354k), an adult photoshoot ($30k), an escort, a butler and gadgets galore. All part of a day-in-the-life of a 15 year old New Jersey boy.

Yesterday, spendamillion visitor Chris from New Jersey dropped me an email saying, “I love the site dude!”

15 year old kid spends $2 million Great! I thanked him and sent him the usual $200 cheque (as I do anyone that writes me a complimentary email*). I took a look at Chris’ millionaires wishlist www.spendamillion.com/chris_bee and saw that this guy had:

Thinking in units of £10,000

Whilst I was out treking with my wife on the Gower coast, and had some distance from my work, I realised what I need is not just more monthly income, but to swap how I think: I need to start thinking in units of £10,000 not £1,000.

So whilst I was walking over the rugged, unspoilt coastline, I started to mentally cluster my various projects and work into £10k chunks. I mentally cut-n-paste, grouped, and assessed if they were scalable and repeatable revenue streams. So by scaling up how I think about my work, it will hopefully have a natural effect on how I actually complete, deliver and bill my work.

Sunny days, make some easy money

What a gorgeous suprise to have this hot weather thrust upon us. My girlfriend has been off work enjoying the sun and dragged me down the beach everyday last week.. I can’t believe it’s April! I hate to say it but bring on global warming.

Anyway I was suprised to see some really easy money to be made, but no one doing it.

Web development “babes”, my experience of dating scripting languages

Having scripted web devlopment languages for 8 years now, I have had some good programming times, some great programming times and some scary programming times. I thought I’d share some of my “dating and relationships” experiences in scripting each of these “babes”.

PERL
perl She was the first to arrive at the party, and is still there (probably). She is brainy and she knows it. Tricky to get a handle on but rewarding, certainly back then I was admired by everyone for dating her. She lives in the Regex neighbourhood, which is very complicated, but once you know it well its great for shortcuts to anywhere.

Skiving, daydreaming and blowing a million

Skiving can be fun! This website seems to have a big appeal with people that are skiving at work, not just in the UK but all around the world. People want to spend a virtual million on our site and kill some of that boredom factor. Office skiving is fun too, remember kids. We get a lot of emails like this:

Genius rent a Prada bag idea

I came accross www.bagborroworsteal.com and thought what a genius idea. Basically they are a company that rents out the latest Chloe, Chanel, Prada handbags and jewellery for a monthly fee. This means that rather than buy one expensive bag for £500, a hip metropolitan girl can spend £500 a year and get a new bag every month.

Wish I’d thought of that one!
